The 2009 Nobilis is a pure expression of Vermentino that has been shaped by muffa nobile (botrytis cinerea). This is a lovely wine, truly spectacular. The harvest occurs in November when 70-80% of the clusters have been affected by noble rot and the wine is fermented with indigenous yeasts (with one year in new oak). The light, delicate appearance of the wine comes as a surprise once you are exposed to the enormous aromatic intensity of the bouquet. That startling juxtaposition works like magic. The mouthfeel is creamy and smooth with a crisp touch of acidity that gives its focus. Anticipated maturity: 2013-2020.
