Wine Red, Chocolate and Strawberry… protection against type 2 diabetes

More and more studies are conducted on the flavonoids contained in our friend: wine, also more commonly known under the name of tannins.

Flavonoids are polyphenolic compounds in reality, produced by plants as secondary metabolites. Photosynthesis produces mainly sugar and to a lesser extent other products called secondary, including tannins. A specific group of flavonoids, the anthocyanins, are responsible for the colors red , blue and purple flowers and fruits, and they are just giving the ruby red color to our wine !

What supports research conducted at the University of East Anglia and King’s College London and published in the Journal of Nutrition, Wine Red, Chocolate, Strawberry and many other types of fruits, could provide protection against type 2 diabetes. A sin of gluttony, but salutary, since the shielding effect of the tannins they contain, which can regulate the levels of glucose in the blood.
