Everything depends on what you are willing to sacrifice to your vineyard.
If you want to be rewarded with a great wine, be ready to offer it all of yourself.
Samuele, my son, takes care of the vineyards and I often remind him to care for them as if they were family members. I tell him good farmers will mind the health and vigour of their plants down to the last details. Then, grapevines will be providing the quality and healthiness of our wines, of which, furthermore, we are first consumers.
Thanks to the excellent work done into the vineyards, Terre del Marchesato has become, in a short time, one of the most dynamic and remarkable company, in Bolgheri wine sector, standing out for the excellence, authenticity and strong identity of the brand in the production.
The vineyards of our estate spread for 16 hectares around the cellar, are planted with typical Bolgheri red grape vines as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, and Petit Verdot and the white indigenous Vermentino.
Vines are grown in single cordon spur training method; their density is 7,100/hectare. All rows are East-West orientated creating perfect ailes for a proper sea air circulation as best condition for perfect ripening of the grape.
Even if we aren’t part of the organic cultivation, inspired by our peasant roots, we’ve adopted an eco-friendly approach to viticulture carried out respecting the natural season cycles of plants and fruit. All the vines are rigorously curated by hand, the essential operations in order to achieve a healthy and quality crop stretch through the vine seasons according to a permanent cycle that begins in January with the pruning and ends in autumn with the harvest.
During every season, also thanks to the support of weather stations that permit us to have precise weather reports, we are able to limit vine treatments to the strict necessary, therefore ensuring the natural wholesomeness of our grapes and wines.
