Peasant craftsmanship as a true added value of our wines

When I was a child, it was for me usual going with my father and my grandfather in the fields. They were real farmers; their products were the best in the area and they knew it. They had a secure and determined attitude even if by looking at them, I guessed concern and difficulty. Not always my natural childish curiosity was appropriated, sometimes I chosed the wrong moment, but eventually my questions found always an answer, an advice or an example to emulate. Over time I learned easily from their words and hands the secrets of that farmers world. I understood that this type of world is depositary of a millennial rural culture which must not be lost but valued, especially if our target is quality crop production.

Even today, that type of quality culture in Terre del Marchesato, is the basis of everything. It includes knowledge that allows us to adopt less invasive cropping systems in order to respect Bolgheri territory, guides the continue quality research of our wines and even our aiming towards the technological innovation that has to remain constantly balanced with tradition.

Nowadays, thanks to professionalism, advanced scientific and technological notions we can increase our knowledge in order to improve our techniques but, in the end, the fact is that when you are in the vines there is no shortcuts allowed. The quality wine research is implemented by respecting with patience natural earth cycles and its fruits, learning to contend with the climate and the seasons, refining day by day the manual skills and improving the attention of details.

Preserve and enhance our peasant handicraft tradition is one of our challenges that we set ourselves has a target. Only throughout our family roots we can transmit to our grapes and wines quality, aromatic notes, style characteristics and uniqueness that our terroir and our sensibility are able to express.

 

Philosophy production

The global wine market is constantly changing, just like the audience appeal, it evolves day by day. Therefore, innovation is necessary in order to remain competitive and increase quality but at the same time be subjected to the strongly tradition – bound product identity. Our reference point in order to maintain constant this balance is represented by our peasant family roots, an added value of craftsmanship, manual skills, sensibility and ancient knowledge that allow us, throughout a sustainable viticulture, to respect our terroir and to preserve the natural characteristics of our grapes and to bring out character and flavour of our wines.
